The LA Music Club is delighted to have former Clash drum legend Nick Headon as Club President. “I’ve been very fortunate in my musical career and I’m pleased to give something back by helping the Club.” said Nick. Indeed, Nick was influential in findng the funding to get the Club started from Strummerville a foundation to promote new music set up from the estate of the late Joe Strummer. “To see young musicians learning performance skills is great and there are undoubtedly some very talented kids at the Club.” Nick’s association with some of the Committee members goes back many years having played in Expedition with Bert Osborne and Mirkwood with Mick Morris before joining The Clash.

However, it’s not just the L A Music Club thats keeping Nick busy nowadays. In 2009 he founded The Topper Headon Drum Scholarship at Canterbury Christchurch University. Funded by Nick, the Scholarship is designed to help young drummers develop and achieve their ambitions and is a great help to the selected year one students. Nick is also actively involved with Billy Bragg in Jail Guitar Doors an organisation designed to rehabilitate prisoners through music – see www.jailguitardoors.org.uk for more details. Finally, Nick is a spokesperson for the Hepatitis C Trust a charity aimed at helping those suffering from Hepatitis C, sadly the most common form of Hepatitis nowadays. See www.hepctrust.org.uk for more details.

Thanks for your help Nick and keep up the good work!
